Dr. Adam Offenbacher's lab focuses on understanding the differences between two closely related blood proteins, fibrin and fibrinogen. They aim to explore how these proteins behave and transform in the body, particularly in relation to blood clotting and diseases like cardiovascular issues and Alzheimer's. By doing so, the lab hopes to develop targeted diagnoses and treatments based on the unique features of these proteins.

Research Aims
5AIM 01Identify unique structural and dynamical fingerprints of soluble and monomeric fibrin and compare them with fibrinogen.
AIM 02Elucidate the global conformer states of apo and ligand-bound forms of fibrinogen.
AIM 03Develop a novel monomeric form of fibrin for molecular studies.
AIM 04Map structural and dynamic changes during the transition from fibrinogen to fibrin.
AIM 05Distinguish between physiological and pathological fibrin depositions for improved clinical diagnostics.
