Research Focus
Dr. Eunsook Yu Lee's research lab investigates how manganese exposure can lead to neurological diseases, especially conditions that mimic Parkinson's disease. The lab studies a protein called Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), which is involved in various brain functions. By understanding how manganese affects this protein and microglia, the immune cells in the brain, the lab aims to find new treatments for manganese toxicity and related neurodegenerative disorders.
