Research Focus
Dr. Giuseppe Tosto's lab at Columbia University focuses on understanding Alzheimer's disease, particularly within Hispanic/Latino populations. Acknowledging that these groups have a higher prevalence of Alzheimer's, the lab aims to enhance genetic research by sequencing the genomes of 6,000 individuals from diverse Hispanic backgrounds, especially those with significant Native American ancestry. This work will help in uncovering rare genetic variants associated with the disease and improving our understanding of Alzheimer's in underrepresented populations.
