Research Focus
Dr. Alan Mouton's lab focuses on understanding how metabolism affects inflammation in the heart, particularly after a heart attack (myocardial infarction). They study how different fuels, like lactate and ketones, influence immune cells (macrophages) to either promote healing or cause further injury. This research could lead to new treatments for heart failure, especially in diabetic patients, who are at greater risk after heart attacks.
