Research Focus
Dr. Monica Venere's lab focuses on understanding a specific type of brain tumor called ependymoma, particularly those driven by the ZFTA-RELA fusion. These tumors are especially challenging to treat, and the lab is investigating a protein called FACT that is involved in maintaining the cancerous state of these tumors. By exploring how FACT contributes to tumor growth and its potential as a drug target, the lab aims to develop new therapies that could significantly improve patient outcomes.
