Dr. Stephanie Borrie's lab focuses on improving communication for individuals with Parkinson's disease who struggle with speech intelligibility due to dysarthria. Instead of placing the burden of speech improvement solely on the patient, her research aims to equip family members and communication partners with the skills to better understand and engage with those affected. This innovative 'listener training' approach not only enhances communication effectiveness but also aims to reduce social isolation for patients, promoting greater quality of life.
